1-8-14 When God cahnges your name

1-8-14 When God changes your name Day 8 of the chronological bible   - sons of Isaac were Esau and Jacob (later named Israel) Seeing the reference to Jacob’s name change started me thinking of other name changes. We have Abram (a high father) to Abraham (a father of a multitude). Gen 17:5 father of nations Sarai (my princess - as in Abram’s) to Sarah (princess – for all the races). Gen 17:15 mother of nations Jacob (the deceiver) to Israel (prince of God – the prince that prevails with God- so named after wrestling with God) Gen 32:28 Saul (persecutor) to Paul (apostle to the gentiles) Ac 9:1-19 and Ac 13:9 We see that God changed their names to match their destinies. He did not necessarily change their character but instead rerouted their character into usefulness for the kingdom. Jacob still had family discord in his life, even flowing down to his children, yet he was a blessed man of God. Saul my dictionary tells me was born among the gentiles, hence his beginn...

1-6-14 What is holding up your promise?

1-6-14 delay is not denial - what is holding up your promise Gen 15:16 ... the sin of the Amorites ... Gen 10:15 Sodom and Gomorrah were among the lands of the Amorites. Gen 18:20 says the people were extremely evil. 19:5 gives clear understanding as to their sin. Back to 15:16 it took four generations for the sin "to run its course" so that Abraham's descendants could return to the land they were promised. the delay in your promise may be being caused by someone/thing else occupying the space reserved for you.

1-6-14 Preservative

1-6-14 preservative day 6 of chronological bible - gen 8:16-33 Abram talking to the Lord about destroying Sodom - If 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 righteous are found will you destroy? - No. Don't underestimate the impact you have on the world around you.   You are the hope. You are the salt (the preservative). Your presence alone can be the saving grace to a situation.

1-5-14 Chasing away the vultures of life

1-5-14 Chasing away the vultures of life getting caught up on the chronological reading - day 5 - Gen 15:1-21 Abram cutting up animals and laying the halves side by side - the animals God used to mark His covenant with Abram - "some vultures came down to eat the carcasses, but Abram chased them away". The vultures will come to steal your promises from God you MUST chase them off, flee from them, and hold on to the promises! (friends, family and enemies can all be vultures. anyone that tries to rob you of your word from the Lord)
