1-4-14 Be united

1-4-14 Be United catching up in the chronological bible. day 4 - gen 11:1-9 the story of the tower of babel. "if they can accomplish this ...(with) common language and political unity...nothing will be impossible for them (later). i.e. if we can but be united in purpose nothing is impossible for us!

1-2-14 Refuge from Nod

1/2/14 A refuge from Nod (a place of wandering) Genesis 4:16 tells us that Cain was banished to Nod which we are told means wandering. Many were raised going to church and have “wandered” away for one reason or another. Some churches have become seeker friendly and are offering more entertainment than word to reach the lost, wandering and hurt. Perhaps that is a sign of the times as the population is inundated with visual, entertaining gadgets.   We expect to be entertained.   And entertainment isn’t necessarily a bad thing if the word is true and builds us in our relationship with God. But I know a place that focuses on building our relationship (I’m sure there are others), a sanctuary (a safe haven) where the word is taught in a way relative to our lives and our growing in God. Find such a place. So get out of Nod and stop your wandering.   Come home. Melissa Going

1-2-14 Acceptable Offering

1/2/14 Day two of Chronological Bible – Acceptable Offering This day starts out with Cain and Abel and ends at the beginning of Noah.   A few things caught my eye but the one I want to focus on is the offerings of Cain and Abel. We are not told why Cain’s offering wasn’t acceptable.   We are told that Abel’s offering was the best of his flock.   That would lead us to assume that Cain’s offering wasn’t the best of his crops, merely an offering of something he chose to pick. What do we offer the Lord?   Is it our best or merely something we choose to give, perhaps even something we don’t care about and therefore it is easy for us to give up? An offering is supposed to be a sacrifice.   It is a sacrifice to give to the Lord of our time, our money, our fellowship, our worship. In the descendants list is Enoch who lived 365 years and was taken by God because he enjoyed a “close relationship” with God. How close is our relationship? What are we off...

1-1-14 Be Fruuitful and Multiply

1/1/14 Be Fruitful and Multiply So one more time I'm going to try to get through the one year chronological bible.   I've read the bible through a few times, but, I've always wanted to read it chronologically. So let's see if I can keep up with it this year. Today is from Genesis and the one thing that caught my attention from the all too familiar story is "each able to reproduce more of its own kind" (this is a new living translation version).   Since we are able to reproduce more of our own kind are we reproducing spiritual kinds?   Who have you mentored recently?   I guess my mentoring is in the form of my writings, that and my children.   At the very least we should be living a life that draws attention to our Lord in the way we carry ourselves and react and interact with things/situations and people. I have been dealt some blows lately; nothing major, just one on top of another.   I have been down.   But one thing I know, I won't let go an...
