1/2/14 Day two of Chronological Bible – Acceptable
Offering
This day starts out with Cain and Abel and ends at the
beginning of Noah.
A few things caught my eye but the one I want to focus on
is the offerings of Cain and Abel.
We are not told why Cain’s offering wasn’t
acceptable.
We are told that Abel’s offering was the best of his
flock. That would lead us to assume that
Cain’s offering wasn’t the best of his crops, merely an offering of something
he chose to pick.
What do we offer the Lord? Is it our best or merely something we choose
to give, perhaps even something we don’t care about and therefore it is easy
for us to give up?
An offering is supposed to be a sacrifice. It is a sacrifice to give to the Lord of our
time, our money, our fellowship, our worship.
In the descendants list is Enoch who lived 365 years and
was taken by God because he enjoyed a “close relationship” with God.
How close is our relationship? What are we
offering/sacrificing to and for God?
When you truly love someone you are willing to give your all.
Lines of a song I wrote: Till my all on thine altar I
lay, I’ll walk with you close day by day. So lead me and guide me and love me I
pray, till my all on thine altar I lay.
