1-2-10 Names of God Prayer

Reading (as usual) and as I was reading about the different names/characters of God it came to mind that I should be utilizing this information in a prayer.  Feel free to share it with others if you like.

Lord, I thank you that you are the creator of all things (Jehovah-Elohim); that you have provided all things necessary for my life and my calling (Jehovah-jireh); that you go as a banner before me and defeat my enemies (Jehovah-nissi, Jehovah-saboath), that you are a God of healing, not just physically, but, spiritually and mentally as well (Jehovah-rophe); that in all things you give me the peace (Jehovah-shalom) and the confidence (El Shaddai) that your hand is upon my life and that of my family, that because of your sacrifice I am considered righteous (Jehovah-tsidkenu) and pure (Jehovah-m’kaddesh); that you are always there watching over me, all I need do is call your name (Jehovah-shammah); that you are there to lead and guide me if I but watch and follow (Jehovah-rohi, Jehovah-elohay); that you alone are Lord and God (Jehovah-eloheenu, Jehovah-elyon, Jehovah-elohka); that you formed ME in my mother’s womb and care for ME (Jehovah-hoseenu); that you WILL NOT ever let me go or fall beyond your reach and THAT’S WHY I PRAISE YOU!

1-18-13 Jeus in disguise

1-18-13 Jesus in disguise This is the refrain running through my head this morning – “Jesus in disguise, Jehovah passing by,” They were looking for a King they would never recognize – various lines from a song by that name by Brandon Heath.   If you look at the lyrics of the song – obviously – they were not in my head exactly right. As in the past they were looking for Messiah to come to rescue them from the oppression.   Since they were looking for him to be a certain way, they missed him when he came. In Luke 24:13 – 32 two of the disciples were walking when a man started walking beside them.   It wasn’t until he left them that they realized it was Jesus. I submit to you that Jesus appears to us in many forms.   Mt 25:35-40 says that we clothed him and fed him when we did it unto others (paraphrasing). Another line from this song says “open my eyes wide as I can, blind as I am” I can feel the Lord pretty much always, so there was a time ...

1-6-14 What is holding up your promise?

1-6-14 delay is not denial - what is holding up your promise Gen 15:16 ... the sin of the Amorites ... Gen 10:15 Sodom and Gomorrah were among the lands of the Amorites. Gen 18:20 says the people were extremely evil. 19:5 gives clear understanding as to their sin. Back to 15:16 it took four generations for the sin "to run its course" so that Abraham's descendants could return to the land they were promised. the delay in your promise may be being caused by someone/thing else occupying the space reserved for you.

1-27-16 The Water Wheel

The Water Wheel 1/27/16 I saw an image in my head of a water wheel.   You know how a water wheel is in a ditch of water.   Well there was a person trying to climb out of the water by climbing on the water wheel.   Of course every time he stepped on the wheel all he succeeded in doing was making the wheel turn and go down, back into the water.   Someone suggested turning the motor on and letting the wheel do the work. There are a couple of key points here. First is about trying to do things on our own.   And about how that is counterproductive.   You see the way a wheel works is to turn and scoop up water and then dump it onto another wheel that turns at a sideways angle in order to turn the wheels inside the house in order to grind the meal.   Therefore its movement would be in an upwards direction and when someone is trying to climb on it, they are moving it counter to its intended movement, downwards.   So doing things in our own...
