1-26-10 seed planting

1-26-10 seed planting

So a writer writes everyday.  So if I call myself a writer then I should be writing, but, what to write.

I’ve been singing O Come O Come Emmanuel. So, come Lord Jesus, come and ransom (save) Israel who has been made captive not as a slave to a master but captive by their own ignorance and acceptance as you as the Messiah, the Son of God.

Your word says that they have been made blind and will remain so until the end because of their stiff-neckedness. (Yeah, I know that’s not really a word, but, it works)

As the Messiah returns in all his glory to ransom all of us from the snare of the serpent, Israel’s eyes shall be opened and they and everyone else shall bow on their knee and declare that you ARE the Son of God!

Part of me longs for that day, the day when we shall reside with you for all eternity.  Another part of me says “Wait!” for I know that there are those who are not ready, including some of my family.  Yet, there will always be some that aren’t ready.  I just pray that it won’t be one of my own.

You can not force people to believe in you.  You can not argue with people and “prove” the word to be the word of God or that the interpretation you give it is accurate.  Only the Holy Spirit can make Him known to a person.  Only the Holy Spirit can change a heart.

So, what is our role?  To share the gospel, but, not try to “cram” it down someone’s throat, for that will have no results or possibly the total opposite effect from what we are trying to accomplish.  We are to witness with our lives.  We are to witness in love (even the unlovable), to forgive (even the “unforgivable” – else the unforgiveness will keep us in bondage), to care for the widows and orphans.

I speak the things I know to be true.  I can not make someone else believe my truths. My responsibility is to share those truths and the “seeds” will fall where they may (as has already been ordained by God) and some will die by the wayside, and some will grow and wither, and some will grow and be fruitful.  Can you tell the condition of a seed by looking at it?  No.  One seed may look pretty and perfect and be infertile.  Another seed may look withered or deformed and produce the greatest harvest.

So, throw those seeds hither and yon.  Water the ones on your path.  Leave others for someone else to water.  Some will plant, some will water, and some will reap, but, they may not all be the same someone.  I may reap what you plant and someone else waters.  You may reap what I planted and watered.  The harvest is the important thing, not who planted, nor who watered.  After all, it is all going to the same market and the price has already been paid. Not to long away the purchaser will be coming for his crop!

1-18-13 Jeus in disguise

1-18-13 Jesus in disguise This is the refrain running through my head this morning – “Jesus in disguise, Jehovah passing by,” They were looking for a King they would never recognize – various lines from a song by that name by Brandon Heath.   If you look at the lyrics of the song – obviously – they were not in my head exactly right. As in the past they were looking for Messiah to come to rescue them from the oppression.   Since they were looking for him to be a certain way, they missed him when he came. In Luke 24:13 – 32 two of the disciples were walking when a man started walking beside them.   It wasn’t until he left them that they realized it was Jesus. I submit to you that Jesus appears to us in many forms.   Mt 25:35-40 says that we clothed him and fed him when we did it unto others (paraphrasing). Another line from this song says “open my eyes wide as I can, blind as I am” I can feel the Lord pretty much always, so there was a time ...

1-6-14 What is holding up your promise?

1-6-14 delay is not denial - what is holding up your promise Gen 15:16 ... the sin of the Amorites ... Gen 10:15 Sodom and Gomorrah were among the lands of the Amorites. Gen 18:20 says the people were extremely evil. 19:5 gives clear understanding as to their sin. Back to 15:16 it took four generations for the sin "to run its course" so that Abraham's descendants could return to the land they were promised. the delay in your promise may be being caused by someone/thing else occupying the space reserved for you.

1-27-16 The Water Wheel

The Water Wheel 1/27/16 I saw an image in my head of a water wheel.   You know how a water wheel is in a ditch of water.   Well there was a person trying to climb out of the water by climbing on the water wheel.   Of course every time he stepped on the wheel all he succeeded in doing was making the wheel turn and go down, back into the water.   Someone suggested turning the motor on and letting the wheel do the work. There are a couple of key points here. First is about trying to do things on our own.   And about how that is counterproductive.   You see the way a wheel works is to turn and scoop up water and then dump it onto another wheel that turns at a sideways angle in order to turn the wheels inside the house in order to grind the meal.   Therefore its movement would be in an upwards direction and when someone is trying to climb on it, they are moving it counter to its intended movement, downwards.   So doing things in our own...
