1-26-10 seed
planting
So a
writer writes everyday. So if I call
myself a writer then I should be writing, but, what to write.
I’ve
been singing O Come O Come Emmanuel. So, come Lord Jesus, come and ransom
(save) Israel who has been made captive not as a slave to a master but captive
by their own ignorance and acceptance as you as the Messiah, the Son of God.
Your
word says that they have been made blind and will remain so until the end
because of their stiff-neckedness. (Yeah, I know that’s not really a word, but,
it works)
As the
Messiah returns in all his glory to ransom all of us from the snare of the
serpent, Israel’s eyes shall be opened and they and everyone else shall bow on
their knee and declare that you ARE the Son of God!
Part of
me longs for that day, the day when we shall reside with you for all
eternity. Another part of me says
“Wait!” for I know that there are those who are not ready, including some of my
family. Yet, there will always be some
that aren’t ready. I just pray that it
won’t be one of my own.
You can
not force people to believe in you. You
can not argue with people and “prove” the word to be the word of God or that
the interpretation you give it is accurate.
Only the Holy Spirit can make Him known to a person. Only the Holy Spirit can change a heart.
So, what
is our role? To share the gospel, but,
not try to “cram” it down someone’s throat, for that will have no results or
possibly the total opposite effect from what we are trying to accomplish. We are to witness with our lives. We are to witness in love (even the
unlovable), to forgive (even the “unforgivable” – else the unforgiveness will
keep us in bondage), to care for the widows and orphans.
I speak
the things I know to be true. I can not
make someone else believe my truths. My responsibility is to share those truths
and the “seeds” will fall where they may (as has already been ordained by God)
and some will die by the wayside, and some will grow and wither, and some will
grow and be fruitful. Can you tell the
condition of a seed by looking at it?
No. One seed may look pretty and
perfect and be infertile. Another seed
may look withered or deformed and produce the greatest harvest.
So,
throw those seeds hither and yon. Water
the ones on your path. Leave others for
someone else to water. Some will plant,
some will water, and some will reap, but, they may not all be the same
someone. I may reap what you plant and
someone else waters. You may reap what I
planted and watered. The harvest is the
important thing, not who planted, nor who watered. After all, it is all going to the same market
and the price has already been paid. Not to long away the purchaser will be
coming for his crop!
